DSC's Subject Matter Experts have trained over 1,000 Support Coordinators across Australia and this intensive course distils our accumulated experience, knowledge and wisdom into the must-have information, perspectives and resources for all Support Coordinators.
We’ve designed two days of interactive learning to give you the confidence and capability to offer best practice support coordination.
DAY 1: 9:30am - 3:30pm
Great Support Coordinators have a really solid understanding of the policy and principle foundations of the NDIS. In an environment where there is so much misinformation and things change so rapidly, being familiar with the source material is critical.
This module breaks down policy to make it accessible for Support Coordinators, including:
• The Legislation & NDIS principles
• Operational Guidelines
• Provider toolkit
• Sources of key NDIS intelligence and information
This module goes through the different roles a Support Coordinator is expected to fulfil in detail, including:
• Service agreements and service bookings
• Exploring support options
• Preparing for Plan review
• Building capacity
This module shares with Support Coordinators and approach to explaining the complexities of the NDIS to participants and families so that they are empowered to making the most of their NDIS plan. It will cover:
This module is about supporting Support Coordinators to feel ultra-confident with using the Price Guide as a tool, with a focus on:
• Understanding the flexibility of each support category
• Interpreting line item definitions
• Understanding line item codes and how they can help your work
This module is an exercise where attendees brainstorm all the possible supports (informal, mainstream, community and funded) that a person might be able to access to reach specific goals and to specifically find the corresponding line items.
This is a fabulous exercise to get people used to thinking creatively within the limitations of NDIS plans.
DAY 2: 9:30am - 12:30pm
This module supports discussion around strategies Support Coordinators can use to manage the expectations of people with disability and their family in relation to NDIS eligibility, what the NDIS will and will not fund and plan review. It also discusses the challenge of avoiding burnout and building resilience int he Support Coordination team.

This module explores the Support Coordinator's role in supporting people to explore their housing options, including:
• Funding available for Participants with housing goals
• Participant pathways to housing options
• SDA & SIL application, eligibility and appeals processes
• When Allied Health assessments are necessary and what they should say
• In-kind SDA: What it is and how it may impact your housing search
This module introduces Support Coordinators to The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It covers:
• Overview of obligations for providers
• The role of participants, Support Coordinators and the broader community
• The NDIS Code of Conduct and what it looks like in practice
It is simply impossible for a Support Coordinator to be specialists in all the different facets of NDIS policy. This module introduces Support Coordinators to the opportunities available to them to specialise in supporting specific groups of NDIS Participants.

Sally is our resident NDIS wonderwoman (also fondly known as our ‘pocket rocket’). Don't be disarmed by her humour, she packs a punch with her huge NDIS knowledge, intellect and energy. Sally has diverse experience across financial services, human services, B2B, B2C, for profit and for purpose industries around the world. Sally is especially passionate marketing products, services, spaces and experiences for people with a disability.
Sally is a dynamic trainer and presenter, a Certified Practicing Marketer and lecturer in Marketing at the University of Newcastle. She is a Director of the Centre for Universal Design and a past member of the NSW Disability Council. Sally was also the CEO of a disability service provider during the Hunter NDIS trial. And, she finished her Masters at Harvard (did we mention she’s dynamic?). One of Sally's three daughters, Nicky, who passed away in 2018, was an NDIS participant for four years. Sally translates her personal and professional experience into a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for business.

Evie is an all rounder, a content guru, an NDIS nerd and DSC pinch hitter. She holds both a Masters degree in Sustainable Development from HEC Paris and a Media Communications degree from the University of Melbourne. Evie has been at DSC since the start and is the engine room of our content driven marketing success. She is an outstanding writer, presenter and digital service developer.
Early in her career, Evie worked on cutting edge Human Centred Design service development strategies for Procter & Gamble in Kenya and Brazil. Evie is an expert in NDIS detail, working with organisations around Australia at all stages of the NDIS journey. She has been influential in building the sector's understanding of NDIS Support Coordination and is well known for her unique love of sharks and the NDIS Price Guide.
