The time to start building SDA has finally come.

NDIS Participants who want to move house are entitled to Support Coordination hours to explore their options. The Support Coordinators’ role in this process is crucial but incredibly complex, intersecting many different areas of NDIS and housing policy.


This full day workshop will give Support Coordinators the information and tools they need to be able to guide a Participant through the process and write a Housing Plan for the NDIA’s consideration, including:

  • Overview of all independent living funding streams: SDA, SIL, Core Supports
  • Home Modifications and Assistive Technology
  • Supporting participants to obtain a SIL quote
  • Mainstream housing options
  • Reviewing Allied Health Assessments
  • Housing Plan tips and tricks

NB: The morning of this workshop will be shared with our NDIS Housing & Living Options workshop, covering all aspects of NDIS housing policy. After lunch the workshop will continue in a smaller group, focusing on developing a Housing Plan with a Participant.

FACILITATORS

Sally Coddington

Sally is our resident NDIS wonderwoman (also fondly known as our ‘pocket rocket’). Don't be disarmed by her humour, she packs a punch with her huge NDIS knowledge, intellect and energy. Sally has diverse experience across financial services, human services, B2B, B2C, for profit and for purpose industries around the world. Sally is especially passionate marketing products, services, spaces and experiences for people with a disability.

Sally is a dynamic trainer and presenter, a Certified Practicing Marketer and lecturer in Marketing at the University of Newcastle. She is a Director of the Centre for Universal Design and a past member of the NSW Disability Council. Sally was also the CEO of a disability service provider during the Hunter NDIS trial. And, she finished her Masters at Harvard (did we mention she’s dynamic?). One of Sally's three daughters, Nicky, who passed away in 2018, was an NDIS participant for four years. Sally translates her personal and professional experience into a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for business.

Brent Woolgar

Brent is a bona fide master of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) detail, which considering he is an engineer is not surprising. Brent has built his reputation as one of the sector's leading experts in SDA with involvement in over 50 SDA related projects to date, ranging from parent groups, small organisations, large national organisations, state governments, community housing providers, for-profit investors, developers and many financial institutions. What Brent doesn’t know about SDA is probably the stuff the NDIA don’t know themselves yet.

Brent brings a unique skill set to NDIS Housing, with over 25 years consulting experience in accessible design as well as a lived experience as the proud father of teenage identical twins, one of whom has cerebral palsy.

Gareth McKeen

Gareth has been highly successful leading organisational transition to the NDIS drawing on insights gained as a CEO and senior manager across 5 different industry sectors over a three decade career. He has dropped out of university 4 times in the 3 different countries, but somehow completed two degrees, including a Masters of Management. His signature philosophy is to create and pursue a 'Jigsaw of Excellence', an approach born out of his involvement at three Olympic games as team manager of a gold medal winning team. The Jigsaw analogy recognises that all the bits of an organisation are inter-linked and each plays a key role in achieving outcomes.

Having successfully developed, submitted and claimed over $7.5m worth of SIL quotes, Gareth has hands on experience in SIL from the perspective of a service provider. As CEO of a small/medium organisation, Gareth decided that SIL was critical to their operation and so took on the challenge of being responsible for creating a SIL roster spreadsheet, filling out the SIL quotes and then claiming the SIL via the NDIS portal.
